Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off
Work Location Note: This position is based at the True North Mine site in Bissett, Manitoba. Travel to site is required. Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled work rotations, as applicable.
Position Overview1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a Junior Geologist (Core Logger) to support its geological team at the True North Mine in Bissett, Manitoba. The role is responsible for examining, measuring, describing, photographing, and recording diamond drill core to maintain accurate geological records and prepare core for sampling and storage.
Key Responsibilities:Core Logging & Geological Documentation- Measure and record core recovery, rock quality designation (RQD), and other required geotechnical information.
- Log lithology, alteration, mineralization, veining, and structures in accordance with company procedures and the direction of the geological team.
- Receive drill core, verify box labels and drill hole information, and identify any missing or damaged core.
- Mark sample intervals and cutting lines as directed by a geologist.
- Prepare core and samples for cutting, shipment, or storage while maintaining accurate identification and chain of custody.
- Photograph core and enter logging, sample, and quality control information into the geological database.
- Communicate unusual observations, data discrepancies, and operational issues to the geological team.
- Keep the core shack, equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow site safety procedures and participate in inspections, hazard reporting, and safety meetings.
- Perform other related geology support duties as assigned.
- A bachelor's degree in Geology.
- Previous diamond drill core logging or core shack experience is an asset.
- Ability to recognize and consistently describe geological features in drill core.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and geological logging software.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with geologists, drill crews, and other site personnel.
- Ability to perform physical work, including handling core boxes, while following safe lifting practices.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
- Site-based / camp-based role at a remote mining operation.
- 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.
- Travel to and from site is required.
- Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled rotations, as applicable.
- This position may involve standing for extended periods and working in a core shack in varying temperatures.
