Position Summary

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that supports adult learners in achieving program outcomes and meeting regulatory requirements. Instructors engage learners through discussion, hands-on activities, and assessments while creating a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Contract:

• Till June 25, 2027
• 9:00am - 3:30pm - 25 hours of in-class instruction, based on a 30-hour work week

Responsibilities:

• Deliver Adult Basic Education courses
• Develop and/or adapt assessments to meet learner needs
• Maintain student records including attendance and progress reports
• Support learners in achieving their personal, academic, and career goals
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
• Liaise with administration, support staff, and community partners as required
• Manage daily operations of the classroom, including scheduling and reporting
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times

Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Education - Math, Science or English
• Effective communication, problem-solving and classroom management skills
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet set deadlines
• Experience in providing differentiated instruction
• Ability to work independently in a remote or satellite environment
• Proficiency in the use of educational technology and online learning tools
