WHO WE ARE: The Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour is seeking an individual to join the New Brunswick Public Library Service as Branch Secretary for the Regional Office located in Edmundston.

THE POSITION: As a member of the regional office team and reporting to the Regional Director, the Regional Office Secretary is responsible for preparing internal and external correspondence, reports, and minutes of meetings; typing, formatting and distributing documents based on established standards; providing reception service; receiving and sorting mail; tracking mail which requires follow up and creating action files for staff; organizing and maintaining a central filing system for printed and electronic material, including email, in accordance with provincial standards; maintaining shared electronic folders and electronic distribution lists; maintaining content on the NBPLS SharePoint site and some content on the NBPLS web site; preparing and coordinating requests for translation and interpretation services; photocopying documents; scheduling and organizing logistics for meetings including making travel arrangements and preparing files; maintaining an inventory of office equipment and ensuring that office equipment is in good working order.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL: We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

  • Technical competencies: Ability to Use Office Technology, Software and Applications; Written Communication
  • Language: Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
  • Education: A high school diploma supplemented by completion of a one-year post-secondary program in secretarial or administrative support or office management and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Experience using email, the Internet and MS-Word is necessary.

Salary: $1,872 to $2,218 bi-weekly
