Certified Mobile Crane Operator

About the Role:

As a Certified Mobile Hoist/Mobile Crane Operator in the aquaculture support industry, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient handling of heavy materials and equipment essential to our marine operations team. Your expertise will ensure that large components and commodities are moved, lifted, and positioned with precision, directly impacting the quality and timeliness of our marine operations. You will collaborate closely with dispatch, site managers and personnel, vessel captains, and safety personnel to coordinate lifts and maintain compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. This role demands a high level of technical skill, situational awareness, and adherence to safety standards to prevent accidents and equipment damage. Ultimately, your work will contribute to maintaining a smooth workflow and supporting the overall productivity and success of our marine sites in the southern NB area.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Mobile Crane/Mobile Hoist Operator recognized in NB.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating mobile hoists and/or mobile cranes independently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of hoist/crane operation safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret load charts and rigging requirements.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including climbing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in the aquaculture industry and in particular on wharves
• Additional certifications related to rigging or heavy equipment operation.
• Familiarity with computerized crane control systems and telematics.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate mobile hoists/cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment in various situations and locations.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on hoist/crane equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with riggers and ground personnel to plan and execute lifts safely and efficiently.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies during crane operations.
• Maintain accurate records of crane usage, inspections, and any incidents or maintenance performed.
• Respond promptly to operational needs and adjust crane positioning as required to support operational processes.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay current with best practices and regulatory changes.

Skills:

The required skills enable the operator to safely and efficiently maneuver heavy loads, ensuring precise placement that supports operational workflows. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for coordinating with riggers and other personnel to execute lifts without incident. The ability to interpret technical documents such as load charts and rigging plans ensures that lifts are planned and conducted within safe operational limits. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with aquaculture-based needs and challenges, enhance operational efficiency and safety. Additionally, safety certifications and experience in the Heavy lift environment contribute to a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation, fostering a culture of safety and reliability.
