Memorial University's Office of Development and Alumni Engagement is seeking an energetic, creative and strategic Communications Advisor to lead digital outreach to Memorial's alumni, donors and friends. If you have talent for storytelling, an eye for design, a love for digital platforms, and a data-driven mindset to gauge performance, then we want to talk to you.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni Engagement, and working collaboratively with the communications team within the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement, the Communications Advisor will be responsible for developing, coordinating, leading, implementing and evaluating a digital communications strategy to engage alumni, donors and friends. This will include the design and implementation of a departmental social media strategy, digitally delivered events or programs, and other forms of digital outreach. The successful candidate will collaborate to ensure synergy and alignment with Memorial's broader strategy and will be responsible for gathering data for performance metrics and benchmarking; managing website content; advising and assisting other team members with digital communications for alumni and donor programming; and managing budgets and timelines. The successful applicant will be required to exhibit excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide advice that is guided by their knowledge of best practices. The incumbent will work through campaign approvals and feedback loops; develop processes; and undertake other related duties as required. Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evening and weekend work, is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in marketing, communications, or public relations; graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in marketing, communications, or public relations is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The successful candidate must have experience in project management; developing and implementing a variety of effective and innovative digital campaigns; excellent presentation, writing, editing and proofreading skills; demonstrated good judgement; the ability to multitask; and strong interpersonal skills. The ability to be self-directed, deadline-driven, and work both independently and as part of a team is essential. Knowledge of and experience in digital communications or marketing is essential, as is experience using Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and the ability to use general graphic design principles and practices, as well as experience using graphic design tools (such as Canva). The successful applicant must demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience working within the higher education sector, preferably with an advancement office, alumni, donors and/or the community, as well as content creation and/or video production and editing skills, would be considered assets.
SALARY $55,865 - $83,793 per annum (Management and Professional)
