Summary

Sea Centric is seeking skilled, hands-on Operations Technicians to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an experienced tradesperson or apprentice who enjoys varied, practical work across marine and industrial environments.

The Operations Technician will support fabrication, maintenance, installation, and repair projects in our shop, aboard marine vessels, and at client sites. Work may include mechanical maintenance and repair, welding and fabrication, pipefitting, equipment installation, rigging, troubleshooting, and field-service support.

What You'll Do

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul marine and industrial machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Complete equipment inspections, teardowns, rebuilds, alignments, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Fabricate, modify, fit, and repair metal structures, equipment, piping, and components using appropriate welding and fabrication processes.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, fit, assemble, install, and repair piping systems, supports, valves, flanges, and related components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, welding symbols, equipment manuals, and job specifications.
  • Diagnose mechanical, structural, piping, and fit-up issues and determine practical repair or installation solutions.
  • Perform accurate layout, measurement, fitting, cutting, grinding, welding, and assembly work in accordance with project specifications.
  • Assist with rigging, lifting, hoisting, moving, positioning, and installation of machinery, piping, structural components, and materials.
  • Inspect and test completed work to verify proper fit, alignment, operation, quality, and compliance with applicable specifications and standards.
  • Perform maintenance, fabrication, installation, and repair work safely in the shop, aboard marine vessels, and at industrial client sites while following company and client safety requirements.

What You Bring

  • Registered Apprentice or Journeyperson/Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Welder, Pipefitter, or another relevant industrial trade.
  • Relevant experience in industrial maintenance, marine repair, fabrication, construction, or field service.
  • Previous marine, shipyard, dockside, or vessel-repair experience is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with industrial hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and trade-specific equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and reliability.
