The Department of Natural Resources is seeking an individual to join the East Region, as Resource Manager, located in Bathurst.
Who we are: The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for protecting and managing the forests, fish, and wildlife, and for overseeing the development of mineral resources in New Brunswick. The regional operations are responsible for activities and services associated with the operational delivery of forestry, fish and wildlife, forest fire management, and Crown land programs.
What you will do: As a member of the regional team and reporting to the Regional Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of district staff and coordination of district field operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Playing a key role in leading various aspects of the Formal Management System;
- Coordinating the delivery of the forest management, fish and wildlife management, and Crown land management activities as performed by district resource staff.
- Delivery of the regional forest fire and public education programs.
- Establishing, delivering, and monitoring long-term and annual work plans for district resource operations.
- Monitoring the annual district resource operating budget.
- Participating in activities and issues related to recruitment, labour relations, classification, grievances, discipline, performance reviews, work planning, training, and safety.
- Managing regional and district offices, including administration and infrastructures.
- Maintaining an efficient asset management system.
- Performing other related duties, as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Biology, Science, Environmental Management or another natural resource related discipline; and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience in resource management, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or program management role.
OR
- A diploma from a recognized forest resource technical program and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in resource management, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or program management role.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

Operational Requirement(s):
- Travel within the region and province as required, including overnight stays.
- Work irregular or extended hours to complete assigned work as required.
Salary: Pay Band 6 - $78,546 to $104,494 annually
Work environment:
- Office location: 2570 Route 180, South Tetagouche, New Brunswick.
- Work hours: Monday to Friday / 8:15 to 4:30; 36.25 hours per week.
