Role Description
Reporting to the Vice President, the Engineering Manager will provide leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to a growing team of engineers supporting Sunny Corner Exploration's manufacturing and product development operations. This newly created role was established to support the continued
growth of the business and strengthen the development of the engineering team.
Working closely with engineering, production, operations, and executive leadership, you will help guide engineering priorities, support the design and development of drilling equipment, and drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to
balance people leadership with hands-on technical involvement while making a meaningful impact on the future of the organization.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical and electrical engineers across multiple locations.
  • Provide direction and oversight on engineering priorities, project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support the design, development, and continuous improvement of exploration drill rigs, coring tools, and related equipment.
  • Contribute to technical design activities, including hydraulic applications where applicable.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure quality, reliability, and performance standards are achieved.
  • Coordinate engineering resources across multiple projects while supporting engineering change processes and design revisions.
  • Collaborate closely with production, operations, procurement, sales, service, and leadership teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with customer needs.
  • Support troubleshooting activities, product improvements, equipment modifications, and customer-driven requests.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering workflows, documentation standards, communication, and design processes.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, tools, and best practices while maintaining adherence to engineering standards and industry requirements.

Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are a proven engineering leader with experience mentoring teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment. You enjoy developing people, solving complex technical challenges, and working collaboratively across an organization to drive innovation and continuous
improvement.
Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist designation, or the ability to obtain one.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial, heavy equipment, or related environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience within engineering, technical, or product development functions.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, manufacturing processes, and product development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems is considered an asset.
