As part of the Mechanical Maintenance team the Utilityworker supports the mechanical maintenance team by ensuring tools, parts, and equipment are properly organized, tracked, and readily available. This support minimizes downtime and allows mechanics to work efficiently and safely. The Utilityworker's attention to inventory control and timely issue resolution contributes directly to smooth maintenance operations for the Station.

Key functions include:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for all tools and equipment through regular audits and organized storage practices.
  • Monitor consumable usage and coordinate timely reordering through stores, ensuring materials are stocked appropriately to support uninterrupted maintenance operations.
  • Ensure documentation is filled out for pre-use inspection of two-ton and greater lifting apparatus.
  • Keep a list of defective tools both ones sent for repair as well as the ones that will be disposed of, which will be approved by the Supervisor.

Our ideal teammate will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Must be willing to successfully complete the scissor lift, telescopic boom lift, and Bobcat course(s) to operate various equipment.
  • Three years of experience in an industrialized environment, including experience working around moving equipment and operating a forklift.

In addition to the above, the following would be considered an asset:

  • Parts Technician Red Seal
  • Exposure to SAP and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Mechanical background with the ability to identify commonly used tools.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
