Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Paramedicine Performance and System Integrations and working in partnership with the Data and Analytics team, the primary purpose of this position is to support the activities of the Paramedicine Performance and Partnership Office. The role will support data collection, management, and analysis, as it relates to Integrated Emergency Health Services (IEHS) and associated Key Performance Indicators. The incumbent will play a key role in assisting NL Health Services in the achievement of continuous quality improvement, partnership and system integration through data analysis and evaluation.

The Data Analyst will apply research and quality improvement methodologies and use a variety of tools for data compilation, statistical analysis, auditing, quality assurance and planning, preparing, presenting, and disseminating reports.

The Analyst will assist in the development of data collection tools and ensure data quality; participate in data collection for decision making; and support the management and utilization of electronic information to report on the system. The Data Analyst will translate internal data into visual management tools that allows for the identification of patterns and trends, as well as develop and implement data reports for a variety of interest holders including internal leadership, governance committees, and external partners.

The incumbent will compile data for presentation of performance indicators for a variety of reports and scorecards; and assist with the design of questionnaires/surveys and the consolidated reports to ensure that the required information will be obtained in optimal format to assist with the compilation and presentation of results.

The Analyst will plan, coordinate, and collaborate on the collection, editing, coding, and processing of data into optimum form for analysis, presentation, and publication; provide decision support services within NL Health Services from a data management perspective; and work collaboratively on the development and maintaining the knowledge of NL Health Service’s data holdings. The Data Analyst will plan and prepare reports and participate in project planning.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, Statistics, Social Science, or a health-related field from a recognized university is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years’ experience within the last five years in applied health research is required.
  • Experience in statistical analysis is required.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Knowledge of data collection methods, database design, analysis, report design and information systems. Demonstrated knowledge of applied health research and evaluation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of statistical software with a good understanding of statistical, research and/or quality improvement methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, have superior oral and written communication skills (presentations, writing proposals and reports), as well as can work effectively in teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in word processing and other Microsoft software, including Excel, Power-point, Flow Charts, PowerBI etc.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including SAS, R, etc.;
  • Proven time management skills, exceptional attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position;
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority;
