Job SummaryNLHS is looking for a Psychologist who is a leader and passionate about the profession and services Psychology has to offer the Public Health care system in Newfoundland and Labrador. This is an opportunity to grow as a leader in your chosen profession, be an influencer and expert knowledge broker for Psychology. This position plays a pivotal role providing direction to all levels of the organization in matters pertaining to the practice of and services offered for Psychology in NLHS.
Working with the Provincial Director of Professional Practice - Allied Health, you will be a member of a dynamic and supportive team of Provincial Professional Practice Consultants (PPC) for Allied Health including Dietitians, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy.
The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology supports practice integrity of Clinical Psychologists, the Provincial Coordinator of Clinical Training - Psychology, Psychometrists, Clinical Sexologist, Music Therapists and Art Therapists in NLHS. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Psychology will be responsible for the oversight of Professional practice standards, scopes of practice, code of ethics and evidenced based practice for Psychology. The position works collaboratively with professional associations, academic institutions, community partners and other key stakeholders external to NL Health Services to promote best practice and safe quality Psychology services in all 5 zones of the NL Health Services.
This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of systems and structures that support and monitor professional practice through a Professional Practice Model, including participating in the development of an overall strategic plan for Psychology across the 5 Zones of NL Health Services The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Psychology will build respectful and collaborative relationships through out the organisation to ensure person-centered care and best practices. This position works closely with Psychology staff leading provincial leadership and communities of practice. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Psychology fosters strong relationships with people managers across the organisation. NL Health services wide quality initiatives are the responsibility of this position including audits and practice guideline development, clinical documentation, research, resource allocation, outcome measures, advancing practice and scopes of practice. Leadership and expertise are provided to councils, committees, interdisciplinary projects and working groups.
Job Qualifications
Education
The successful applicant must be a Registered Psychologist with the NL Psychology Board.
A Doctoral degree in Psychology is required.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in psychology.
Previous management experience is an asset.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong knowledge of Psychology professional practice issues and standards.
Demonstrated progressive clinical, management and leadership experience, with a focus on quality patient/resident/client care.
Demonstrated experience in building and enhancing effective partnerships.
Excellent oral and written communication and change management skills.
