MAP Strategic Workforce Services Inc. (MAPSWS) is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to promoting careers in the skilled trades to diverse groups while helping create inclusive and welcoming workplaces across the skilled trades sector. Through our four provincial programs, NB-MAP, New Boots, First in Trades (FIT), and the Skilled Trades Exploration Program (STEP), we connect New Brunswickers with opportunities, build partnerships, and support the future of the skilled trades workforce.

Reporting to the Executive Director, MAPSWS is currently seeking a full time STEP Coordinator to join our team.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate in the delivery of our Skilled Trades Exploration Program (STEP) around New Brunswick
  • Coordinate participant recruitment through social media, print advertising, radio, career fairs, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Respond to program inquiries, process applications, and maintain accurate participant records and tracking systems.
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews, assess candidate suitability, and work with the Lead STEP Coordinator throughout the participant selection process.
  • Coordinate the procurement and distribution of participant PPE, tools, and work boots for each training cohort.
  • Prepare and maintain participant documentation, including registration forms, consent forms, and program files.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants, providing guidance and support throughout the duration of the program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers to create apprenticeship and employment opportunities for program participants.
  • Support participants with employment readiness by reviewing resumes, facilitating employer connections, and assisting with job placement opportunities.
  • Coordinate graduation celebrations and related logistics, including venue arrangements, catering, participants communications, and guest management.
  • Participate in STEP sub-committee meetings, providing updates on participant recruitment, program progress, successes, and challenges.
  • Collaborate with the lead STEP Coordinator, Director, training providers, employers, and community partners to ensure the successful delivery of the STEP program.
  • Maintain accurate program records, prepare reports, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the organization professionally at recruitment events, employer meetings, community engagement, and other stakeholder activities.
  • Collaborate in the organization of MAPSWS events (booths, luncheons, conferences, school activities etc.)
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • A University Degree and/or College Diploma and/or Red Seal certification or apprentice in a designated skilled trade
    • Preferred areas of study include Skilled Trades, Education, Social Sciences, Communications, Marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable vehicle and ability to regularly travel throughout NB (including multi-day overnight travel)
  • Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

  • Bilingualism (English and French, both written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick's skilled trades sector and apprenticeship system.
  • Experience working with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives or Equity-Deserving Groups.
  • Experience building partnerships with industry, employers, educational institutions, government, or community organizations.
