JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Cross-Functional Services and in accordance with operational needs and organizational priorities, the person serving as Head of Professional Practice provides strategic leadership to promote competent practice, interdisciplinarity, and excellence in patient care among all regulated and unregulated professionals with clinical responsibilities within the Vitalité Health Network—with the exception of medical and nursing staff. He or she ensures that allied health professionals, Network staff members, contract staff, and those with guest status hold a valid license to practice and comply with the privilege renewal process.

She ensures that decisions promote high-quality practice environments for healthcare professionals and that the standards of practice for various professionals are upheld—or guided in the absence of such standards. Through her responsibilities, she contributes to the evolution of the scope of practice and to interdisciplinary collaboration in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer and the Nursing Practice Leadership Team. In addition, she establishes and develops partnerships with internal and external stakeholders—such as regulatory bodies, postsecondary education programs, and other partners—to address issues that impact healthcare.

Responsibilities also include participating in the development of standards, policies, and procedures; assessing and developing competencies; and designing training programs to address specific needs. The individual is responsible for overseeing and guiding the work of the professional practice team members. He or she is responsible for preparing and reporting on the annual review of the sector's achievements. They ensure that performance indicators are identified, documented, and analyzed to ensure continuous improvement in quality and performance. They communicate challenges, needs, and action plans to the appropriate stakeholders. They actively contribute to the implementation of the organization's priority projects.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field;
  • Graduate-level education;
  • Member in good standing of a New Brunswick regulatory body.

Experience

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the health care field, demonstrating progressive leadership in clinical care and professional practice (e.g., preceptorship, clinical leadership role within one's profession), proven mentoring skills with new employees or students, and active participation in relevant professional associations;
  • Significant experience in collaborative and interdisciplinary work;
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, documentation forms, and prescriptions;
  • Experience in personnel management and strategic planning.

Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrate strong professional credibility and a high sense of ethics;
  • Adhere to and promote the management philosophy, the code of organizational values, and the principles of professional ethics;
  • Demonstrate strategic and collaborative leadership focused on the client, fostering engagement, respect, compassion, and fairness;
  • Ability to create the conditions necessary to successfully carry out major transformation processes;
  • Demonstrate strategic vision and the ability to assume significant responsibilities while promoting the use of evidence-based decision-making;
  • Demonstrate strong management skills, including in planning, program development and evaluation, conflict resolution, and the management of human, financial, and material resources, as well as problem analysis and resolution;
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in using evidence to support decision-making;
  • Be able to establish productive partnerships and recognize the contributions of colleagues;
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities;
  • Manage time effectively and set priorities based on organizational needs;
  • Possess excellent coaching skills;
  • Demonstrate commitment, embrace organizational changes, and manage them with a positive attitude;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills that foster a respectful work environment, a customer-focused approach, and effective communication;

  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
  • The above requirements may be verified through oral, written or practical tests during the selection process.
  • Should there be no fully qualified applicants, this position will not necessarily be reposted. If you wish to be considered for this position and meet most of the requirements, you are encouraged to apply at this time.
