The Leasing Lead will manage commercial leasing, land management, and long term lease planning activities across Build Nova Scotia's provincial portfolio, including waterfront, tourism, commercial, and strategic development lands. The Leasing Lead will be responsible for the administration, negotiation, coordination, and oversight of leases, licenses, permits, land use agreements, and tenant relationships across multiple regions of Nova Scotia. This is a two (2) year term position.
- Lead leasing activities across provincial properties and lands
- Negotiate commercial leases, licenses, and occupancy agreements
- Coordinate renewals, rent reviews, and tenant negotiations
- Support Business Development Opportunity (BDO) processes as needed
- Monitor lease compliance and performance obligations
- Develop leasing strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue
- Coordinate stewardship and operational use of lands under Build Nova Scotia oversight
- Support land activation and redevelopment initiatives
- Coordinate with legal, survey, planning, and environmental stakeholders
- Assist with long-term land planning and utilization strategies
- Act as primary contact for commercial tenants and land stakeholders
- Coordinate with municipalities, tourism organizations, community groups, and provincial departments
- Manage complex tenant relationships and issue resolution
- Support leasing revenue forecasting and reporting
- Monitor lease-related operational impacts
- Coordinate property access, operational requirements, and tenant obligations
- Other duties as assigned
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Real Estate, Planning, Public Administration, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in commercial leasing, property management, land management, business development, or real estate operations, preferably within a public sector, Crown corporation, or multi-site environment.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and administering commercial leases, licenses, land use agreements, and tenant relationships involving multiple stakeholders and operational requirements.
- Strong knowledge of property operations, contract management, financial analysis, lease interpretation, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to manage complex issues across geographically dispersed assets.
- Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate cross-functional teams while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment; experience with public engagement, municipal coordination, and government processes is considered an asset.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically with MS Office, and the ability to learn new software quickly
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Pay Grade: NSL-11
Salary Range: $2,591.22 - $3,562.92 Bi-Weekly
Salary Placement: The placement of a new hire into the salary range is based on an objective salary rating process. This process will assess the knowledge, skills and overall qualifications of a candidate along with internal equity to determine appropriate compensation placement. Each pay grade has established steps, and new hires cannot exceed certain maximums which are outlined in the Compensation Framework. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on these factors.
