THE POSITION:
Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of F&B Relief Receiver (casual) with our Culinary team.
Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, the Food & Beverage (F&B) Receiver supports receiving and inventory operations, contributing to the accurate inspection, documentation, and handling of incoming products. This role maintains organization and cleanliness in storage areas and collaborates with internal teams-such as Accounts Payable, Culinary, and Catering-and external vendors to support service delivery and administrative processes. The position provides operational support as needed, with scheduling based on operational needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations:
- Support daily receiving and inventory activities while maintaining safe and compliant work practices.
- Provide clear and timely communication to internal departments regarding received goods, discrepancies, and inventory status.
- Communicate daily delivery schedules and support the Loading Dock Manager in contributing to efficient dock operations.
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries to confirm quality, quantity, and compliance with order specifications.
- Safely unpack, transport, and store food and beverage products, ensuring efficient internal distribution.
- Safely transport products, tools, and equipment to and from onsite and offsite locations, as required operating a motor vehicle in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Use and maintain equipment and tools safely, adhering to operational standards, reporting any issues or repair needs to the appropriate leader.
- Maintain organized, clean, and accessible storage and receiving areas, while supporting accurate inventory tracking.
- Report inferior, damaged, spoiled, or missing products to the appropriate leader and promptly process all related vendor claims.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support effective service delivery, positive relationships, and service excellence initiatives.
- Maintain professional conduct, including reliability, readiness to work, and adherence to personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
Administration:
- Maintain accuracy of all receiving documentation and reporting, to support timely and efficient invoice processing.
- Assist with placing Food & Beverage supply orders as needed, preparing electronic purchase orders and internal requisition forms.
- Complete and verify all related paperwork on time, ensuring orders match invoices and purchase documents, accurately recording quantities, noting discrepancies, and obtaining necessary signatures.
- Assist with tracking and supporting the resolution of credit requests for returned or spoiled items in collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Support the F&B Receiver with resolving discrepancies and ensuring all receiving documentation is complete and submitted promptly.
Training & Development:
- Obtain and maintain all certifications required by the organization and applicable regulations to support operational readiness and compliance.
- Engage in learning opportunities to support ongoing development and adaptability to operational needs.
- Support continuous improvement by adopting new methods, technologies, and practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Contribute thoughtfully to team discussions, training opportunities, and departmental initiatives to support a collaborative and effective work environment.
Health & Safety:
- Adhere to all departmental standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure the safety of oneself, team members, and guests.
- Report safety hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly, taking appropriate action to address hazards when safe, and actively participating in the investigation process.
- Wear, use, and ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, reporting any violations or damaged PPE within the team or onsite.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Proof of a safe driving record required via a current Nova Scotia Driver's Abstract.
- Highschool diploma or educational equivalent.
- Post secondary school education in administration or hospitality is an asset.
- Food Safety Handling Level 1 Certification is an asset.
- Experience in a receiving or inventory management position is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use the Microsoft suite of products effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
