Position Overview
MedNexus Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our growing interdisciplinary team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the full specimen collection process-from welcoming patients to preparing samples for transportation.

Key Responsibilities
The scope of duties may vary based on credentials and licensing:
- Register patients and accurately enter orders.
- Assess patient suitability and support safe specimen collection processes.
- Perform end-to-end specimen collection procedures, including setup, collection, labeling, and preparation of specimens for transport, ensuring all shipping requirements and protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Provide professional, timely service while addressing patient inquiries and clearly explaining procedures.
- Perform routine cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of workspaces and equipment.
- Management of adverse events and escalate concerns as required.
- Maintain clinic inventory and coordinate the ordering of supplies.
- Perform other related clinical, administrative, and special projects as required to support clinic operations.
Experience/Education:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Phlebotomist: Graduate of a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) program or equivalent. Must have successfully completed the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant certification exam.
- Licensed Practical Nurse: Valid LPN designation with an active license in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses (ANBLPN).
- Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of phlebotomy experience.
Qualifications:
- A high level of professionalism, including strict adherence to confidentiality and patient advocacy standards.
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with computers, including internet use, electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and other relevant software applications.
- A commitment to fostering a culture of problem-solving, collaboration, and excellence.
- Strong documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience, and a patient-centered approach to care.
- The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Fluency in both English and French is required to support daily clinic operations.
Working Conditions & Location:
- This is a part time opportunity, with a fixed schedule of one day per week.
- The successful candidate will work independently and manage responsibilities with a high degree of autonomy.
- The successful applicant will be required to work in-person at a remote clinic location in Tracadie, New Brunswick. While this role is based in a remote clinic location, the successful candidate will be supported by and connected to a broader multidisciplinary team across the province.
