About the Role

Reporting to the Team Lead of Health Information Management Manager of Health Information Management, the Family Practice Secretary supports navigation and provides administrative support to the Primary Health Care Suite / Outpatient Departments of the Labrador Health Centre.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a two-year Secretarial Science or Office Administration diploma;
  • Completion of an approved medical terminology course or willingness to complete;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in word processing and other Microsoft software (demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft word, Power Point, Excel, Internet and Email);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in general office practices and procedures, organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • Prepares, types and creates various correspondence;
  • Accepts documentation from patients for the healthcare providers;
  • Holds patient pick up documentation, etc from healthcare providers for pick up;
  • Monitors all incoming mail and other correspondence for the healthcare providers which includes Rota;
  • Receive patient phone calls, messages and prescription refill requests;
  • Monitor active results in EMR and assign them to the responsible provider;
  • Provides coverage for the Specialist clerk when necessary;
  • Assists booking and registration clerks as necessary;
  • Performs other related duties.
