Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientist and Research Specialists. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.
  • On a daily basis, you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may require fieldwork to support data acquisition which may require the applicant to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Qualifications
  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and/or a degree specializing in geomatics.
  • A Civil Engineering degree with certificates in remote sensing and or GIS would be considered an asset.
  • You have at least 2 year of professional research experience and practical field work experience.
  • You have practical experience with Remote Sensing, GIS and Tree Segmentation from point cloud software including as well as programming in Python. You have experience with machine learning algorithms including TreeAIbox, Cloud Compare, and the suite of ArcPro machine learning models and external sources for processing raster and point cloud data.
  • You have experience with processing topographic lidar and topo-bathymetric lidar datasets.
  • You have a minimum of two years of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
  • Occupational experience that includes managing projects and outside clients, conducting fieldwork and analysis in the office and report writing.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • You have good oral and written communication skills for generating technical reports and peer reviewed publications

  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to geomatics projects
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to data and project management
