The Opportunity

The Store Manager (Class 3) is responsible for leading all aspects of store operations, delivering exceptional shopper experiences, driving sales performance, and ensuring strong financial and operational results. This role provides strategic and day-to-day leadership to build, develop, and inspire a high-performing team in a fast-paced retail environment.

The successful candidate will coach, mentor, and develop team members to foster engagement, accountability, and operational excellence, while creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The Store Manager is accountable for staffing, performance management, and talent development to ensure the store is positioned for long-term success.

This role also oversees budget management, inventory control, merchandising standards, and operational compliance, while championing the NSLC's commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and organizational values. Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential to effectively lead teams, support business objectives, and drive continuous improvement.

Bargaining Unit: This is a NSGEU local 1670 bargaining unit position.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Regional Director

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline (e.g. retail management, business or finance)
  • At least 5 years of retail experience
  • At least 3 years of progressive people leadership experience in a retail organization
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
  • Be physically able to lift 40lbs
  • Be willing to complete a Criminal Records check upon hire, or provide one issued within the last 6 months.

As the ideal candidate, you will also have:

  • Previous experience in the beverage alcohol or cannabis industry
  • Experience leading teams in a unionized environment

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
