Scope:
We are seeking a strategic and visible leader for our Muskrat Falls operations, as Senior Manager, Muskrat Falls. This role is accountable for leading the Operations and Transmission teams at Muskrat Falls and ensuring the safe, reliable, efficient operation and maintenance of the facility, including the generating station, water control structure, reservoir monitoring systems, civil installations including dams, ancillary facilities such as warehousing and storage buildings, roads, and grounds, and terminal stations. The Senior Manager will foster a collaborative, inclusive and high performance culture in a unionized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible leadership that promotes safety, environmental stewardship, and organizational values for their accountable departments;
  • Lead the operation and maintenance of the Muskrat Falls Generating Facility, associated transmission stations, and supporting infrastructure in Labrador. Ensure asset performance aligns with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
  • Lead and support the planning and execution of maintenance programs and capital projects;
  • Monitor asset performance and ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance;
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners and customers;
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets.

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong leader who can motivate and develop diverse teams, fostering a culture of safety and accountability;
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making ability in high pressure or emergency situations;
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, project teams, and union leadership;
  • The ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated integrity and personal initiative;
  • A strong commitment to NL Hydro's vision, core values, and strategic plan.

What You'll Need:

  • A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with a minimum of 10 years' experience as a Professional Engineer, including five years in an electric utility, or a technical diploma in a related field from a recognized institution with a minimum of 15 years' experience, including 5 years in an electric utility. Equivalent combinations of education and experience displaying progressive leadership may be considered;
  • Leadership experience in a large hydroelectric operating environment;
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, protection and control, hydro mechanical systems and/or large-scale utility operations;
  • Proven ability to lead diverse technical teams in complex maintenance and operations unionized environment.
