New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Line Technician to join our faculty as an Instructor within the Telecommunications Line Technician program. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and servicing fibre optic, cable, internet, and satellite telecommunications systems who are interested in sharing their expertise through applied instruction.
Position Type: Casual
Location: Fredericton
Salary Range: $33.85 to $47.70 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $52.08 per hour, based on their level of post-secondary education.
As part of the School of Professional and Part-time Learning and reporting to the Business Development Operations Manager, the Instructor is responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials, delivering hands-on training, evaluating student performance, maintaining a safe learning environment, and building professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
Specific instructional areas include:
- Telecommunications safety and regulatory practices
- Use and maintenance of telecommunications tools and equipment
- Aerial and ground-based line installation and removal
- Installation and removal of fibre optic, cable, and telecommunications equipment
- Pole climbing techniques and working at heights
- Interpretation of diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
- Safe field operations and hazard identification
Education and Experience
- Journeyperson-level certification in a related trade or equivalent industry experience as a telecommunications line technician, fibre optic technician, or cable/internet installer
- Experience installing and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure including fibre, coaxial, and copper systems
- Recent and relevant field experience preferred
