Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program in Diagnostic Ultrasonography is required.
- Current registration and member in good standing with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
- Medical Radiation Technologists and X - Ray Health Professionals will require registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health
Professionals (NLCHP) in the appropriate discipline(s) in order to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Duties (Included but not limited to):
- The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist III ? Ultrasound, performs advanced and complex diagnostic imaging tests and procedures which are interpreted by
physicians and used in medical diagnosis and operates all Ultrasound equipment with confidence and efficiency.
- Assumes responsibility for the Ultrasound service when required, which includes Abdominal, Obstetric, Small Parts, Vascular, Breast, and any other
ultrasound exam requested as well as Ultrasound guided procedures.
- Responsible for quality control, equipment maintenance, and must maintain ongoing educational upgrading in accordance with Sonography Canada.
- Works with a Provincial PACS imaging system, quality controls all of the images in each exam done by the incumbent and verifies all patient
demographics are correct before verifying every exam and the images to the Provincial PACS Long- and Short-Term Storage.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of patients, visitors, staff and self during examinations and procedures.
- Protects the confidentiality of patient information and abides by the rules and regulations of the Newfoundland Health Service, which are reflected in its
philosophy, policies and procedures.
- Must be willing to work evenings, day shifts, weekends, per departmental schedule, and be an active member of a team of Diagnostic Imaging Technologists covering on call outside the scheduled working hours on the departmental rotation.
