Location: Dalhousie/Campbellton/Bathurst

Position: Permanent Part-Time

Hours: 3 days per week

Job Overview:

The Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick is seeking a Health Coach to work with our Live Well | Bien Vivre (LW|BV) program in the Campbellton region of the province. The Live Well | Bien Vivre Program (LW|BV) is an exciting partnership between the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick and the Government of New Brunswick. This unique initiative utilizes a community-based approach to support the prevention and management of chronic disease. As a health coach, you will have the opportunity to work with clients to support individual wellness with a focus on active living, healthy eating, mental fitness, and tobacco-free living.

The health coach works as a non-clinical professional who uses a combination of health promotion techniques, individualized guidance, and community resources to enhance the quality of life for their clients. The health coach motivates and supports individual health and wellness goals while building confidence and promoting positive healthy behavior change.

Health Coach role includes:

  • Providing personalized coaching to participants of the Live Well | Bien Vivre program to help identify and achieve client's health and wellness goals.
  • Utilizing behavior change strategies to assist clients to set actionable goals and develop a personal health plan; encourage and motivate lifestyle change; navigate to local resources; and ongoing review of clients' progress to help achieve goals.
  • Building relationships and expanding networks with stakeholders, partners, and organizations to enhance community connections and to increase program participation.
  • Providing verbal and written reports as required to management, including expenses.
  • Promoting and maintaining the vision, mission, and policies of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick and the people it serves and supports.

Candidates should possess the following:

Education

  • Post-secondary education in health or wellness, kinesiology, social sciences, adult education, community development, and/or 3 + years experience in a related field.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience in working with health-related or non-profit groups.
  • Experience in working with individuals, working within teams, and engaging groups.
  • Qualifications in areas such as nutrition, mental wellness, coaching and / or health behaviours would be an asset.
  • Fluent in spoken & written English and French is required.
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office Suite, email, Facebook, Google Suite, etc.
  • Valid license and the ability to travel within region or as required.
