The Opportunity We are seeking a Technical Leader – Lean, Continuous Improvement (CI) & IT Governance to join our Information Technology organization, based in Toronto/Sudbury, ON.
This is a permanent position with enterprise?wide scope, focused on enabling well?governed, efficient, and continuously improving ways of working across IT.This role operates cross?functionally, influencing delivery, operations, architecture, and governance practices without direct people leadership. It is ideal for a senior practitioner who thrives at the intersection of Lean thinking, operational excellence, and IT delivery discipline.
You will report to the Head of Governance and Architecture and collaborate closely with architecture leaders, IT finance, vendor management, and delivery teams across the organization. About You You are a Lean and Continuous Improvement leader with a deep understanding of how work flows through modern IT organizations. You see beyond individual teams and tools, focusing instead on value streams, system-level bottlenecks, and sustainable improvement.
You are comfortable with challenging legacy practices, coaching senior leaders, and introducing structured problem?solving approaches—while maintaining a pragmatic, business?focused mindset. You balance governance and guardrails with speed, innovation, and autonomy. In This Role, You WillLean & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead value stream mapping and analysis across the IT delivery lifecycle, from ideation to production
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks, delays, rework, and systemic inefficiencies impacting flow and business value
  • Drive reduction of waste and technical debt, including redundant processes and manual handoffs
  • Embed a sustainable Kaizen culture, ensuring retrospectives and post?incident reviews result in tangible improvements
  • Champion an automation?first mindset to improve reliability, reduce risk, and free teams to focus on higher?value work
  • Act as a mentor and role model for Lean thinking, root cause analysis, and problem?solving across IT
Process Design & Optimization
  • Define the "rules of the road" for how engineering teams, IT operations, and governance functions interact
  • Design and simplify end?to?end IT processes across build, operate, and manage layers
  • Balance standardization with flexibility to support diverse delivery models and operational contexts
IT Governance
  • Establish and maintain governance guardrails that ensure compliance, auditability, and risk management
  • Enable teams to remain compliant without slowing innovation or delivery
  • Support consistent application of standards, practices, and controls across IT
  • Contribute to cost awareness, benefits realization, and value?based decision?making
Experience & Education
  • 11–15 years of experience in IT delivery, operations, continuous improvement, or governance roles
  • Strong experience applying Lean, CI, and systems thinking in knowledge?work or technology environments
  • Proven ability to work across large, complex enterprise IT organizations
  • Experience influencing outcomes across teams and senior leaders without direct reporting lines
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • College Diploma considered with equivalent experience
CertificationsMandatory
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, or equivalent enterprise continuous improvement training
Preferred
  • Additional training in Agile, DevOps, ITSM, or operational excellence frameworks
Skills:
  • Advanced problem?solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of flow efficiency, demand vs. capacity, and bottleneck management
  • Ability to analyze and optimize end?to?end IT value streams
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Comfortable challenging "how we've always done it" thinking
  • Clear communicator able to articulate CI insights, trade?offs, and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Cost?aware mindset with experience building business cases and benefits evaluations
  • Fluency in English; Portuguese, French, or Spanish is an asset
