The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Southwest Zone as a Legal Administrative Assistant in the Saint John Office.
As a member of the Legal Administrative Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the Family Crown Counsel, preparation of court documents, and the disclosure of all child and adult protection files for court. The preparation of court documents includes, but is not limited to, drafting notices of applications, notices of motions, drafting and editing of affidavits of evidence, custody and guardianship agreements, and preparation for trial including drafting and issuing summonses to witnesses.
As a Legal Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for arranging for service on respondents, meeting with witnesses to conduct secondary research for the purpose of drafting Affidavits, and subsequently commissioning Affidavits, in the office and in the community. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Need to have:
- Work at this level requires education gained through high school or GED, supplemented by post-secondary education typically a one (1) year program plus a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience including one (1) year of directly related experience in a legal environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Legal Administrative Assistants are required to obtain their Commissioner of Oaths upon appointment.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage: $47,216 - $57,330 annually
