Assessment Lead
As WorkplaceNL's Assessment Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining the consistency, accuracy and fairness of employer registration, billing and account management processes and systems. You will determine coverage under the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, 2022 (the Act) and the Canadian Interjurisdictional Agreement (IJA) on Workers' Compensation.
You will be accountable for the provision of administrative, research, analytical expertise, and support to management relating to business processes, systems, operations and strategic goals. Through monitoring and reporting on the work of the Assessment Services Division, you ensure employers are compliant with the registration and reporting requirements of the Act and that assessment functions are effective, efficient and achieved in a cost-effective manner.
Role Responsibilities
- Provides approvals, coaching and functional direction to Employer Services Advisors.
- Monitors division performance and reports on departmental objectives and goals.
- Identifies training needs and assists in the development and provision of trainings and presentations (for Assessment Services, other WorkplaceNL departments and external stakeholders).
- Makes decisions on contentious, complex or extraordinary circumstances concerning coverage, reporting and registration requirements, Interjurisdictional Agreement, the penalty provisions of the Act, processing, corporate restructurings, etc.
- In the absence of management, the Assessment Lead provides guidance on audit issues and applies Assessment audits to employer accounts.
- Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of employer publications, correspondence and forms (including digital aspects).
- Evaluates assessment programs, workflow, data and systems to identify trends, issues and opportunities to improve programs, internal processes, systems and services to employers.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- University Degree, preferably in business. A professional accounting designation or Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be considered an asset.
- Five years' relevant experience in a worker's compensation, public policy or finance and accounting environment.
- The successful candidate must be proficient in advanced Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and independent judgment, in addition to having well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication, organizational and strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of and a keen interest in the provincial economic climate, industries and employers operating in this province.
- Knowledge of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation legislation, policies, procedures, programs and services would be an asset.
