ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services ? Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time Interventional Cardiologist within the Cardiovascular and Stroke Program.
The Cardiovascular and Stroke Program services the entire province with established programs in Echo, Heart Function, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Primary PCI, and TAVR. There are multiple opportunities to become involved in research and administrative activities within the department.
The successful candidate will participate in on-call duties in interventional cardiology, emergency cardiology coverage, consultations, CCU, and ward coverage. The position is embedded in a rich teaching environment affiliated with Memorial University's Faculty of Medicine, and participation in the teaching of students and house staff is expected.
Through strong formal affiliations with Memorial University, and on the recommendation of the Discipline Chair, the successful candidate may be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment in the Academic Department of Medicine and may be expected to participate in collaborative research activities and scholarship.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Successful completion of a residency in Internal Medicine
- Subspecialty certification in Cardiology ? Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligible
- Subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide interventional cardiology services including Primary PCI and TAVR procedures
- Participate in on-call duties for interventional and emergency cardiology
- Provide CCU and ward coverage
- Deliver consultations to referring physicians and teams
- Participate in Echo, Heart Function, and Cardiac Rehabilitation programs as applicable
- Contribute to teaching and training of medical students and house staff
- Participate in collaborative research activities and scholarship through the Memorial University affiliation
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
Remuneration is Fee-For-Service in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) Fee Schedule.
