JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time

SCHEDULE: Day, On Call, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY:

The Provincial Director of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Programs is responsible for the leadership, coordination, support and evaluation of SANE programs across the province. This role ensures that SANE services are standardized, high quality, trauma-informed and responsive to the needs of survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. The director works with health care providers, law enforcement, prosecutors, community organizations and government stakeholders to improve forensic nursing practices and patient care outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current registration as a registered nurse (RN);
  • Completion of a recognized SANE training program (adult/adolescent and/or pediatric certification);
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in forensic nursing;
  • Previous leadership or coordination experience preferred;
  • Experience working with survivors of sexual violence and knowledge of trauma-informed care principles;
  • Strong understanding of legal, ethical and forensic issues in sexual assault response;
  • Excellent communication, training and organizational skills;
  • Ability to travel within the province as required;
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and data systems;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
  • Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
