Job Summary
The primary role of the Registered Nurse IIA (Occupational Health Nurse) is to promote and support employee and physician wellness within the organization.

The Occupational Health Nurse uses current research and best practice in their provision of services to all health care workers within their scope of practice. The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for conducting pre-placement health screenings, health care worker vaccinations, conducting health surveillance programs, providing communicable disease contact tracing, follow-up and education, providing blood and body fluid exposure follow-up and education, and monitoring communicable disease illness trends within the workplace.

The position works independently, but also works closely with managers, Infection Control Practitioners, Communicable Disease Control, and site Occupational Health and Safety committee members.

Job Demands

Occasionally moves or lifts objects up to 10 lbs.
Regular standing and walking to perform clinic work, conduct presentations; sitting to perform work on a computer to document and prepare charts, prepare presentations, and to counsel or educate clients.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work with equipment that require accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required during clinic activities to view and interpret patient test results and to observe a patient's behavior and body language.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
A minimum of three (3) years of occupational health nursing in the last five (5) years is required.
Current Certification in Occupational Health Nursing or formal post-secondary education in Occupational Health Nursing is required.
Knowledge in all occupational health program elements, including: program development, health assessment, health monitoring, screening and surveillance, industrial hygiene and toxicology, biological monitoring, health promotion, occupational health and safety and employee and family assistance.
Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
