Job Posting Executive Director, Veith House
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The role ensures operational excellence, financial sustainability, and alignment with community needs.
Leadership
- Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and executing a vision and strategic plan
- Advise the Board on internal and external issues affecting the organization
- Act as spokesperson and represent the organization publicly
- Foster strong relationships between Board, staff, and community
Operational Planning and Management
- Develop and implement operational plans aligned with strategic direction
- Oversee day-to-day operations, facilities, and organizational effectiveness
- Ensure policies and procedures are developed, reviewed, and implemented
- Maintain confidentiality and secure record keeping
- Support Board processes including meeting materials and reporting
Financial Management & Fundraising
- Develop and manage budgets with the Board
- Oversee financial reporting, cash flow, and compliance
- Lead fundraising, grant writing, and funding diversification
- Ensure sound accounting and regulatory compliance
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate organizational risks
- Ensure appropriate insurance and compliance
- Support Board understanding of risk exposure
Program Planning and Management
- Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services
- Ensure alignment with mission and community priorities
- Monitor service delivery and quality improvement
- Lead special projects and initiatives
Human Resources Management
- Determine staffing needs and oversee recruitment
- Ensure onboarding, training, and performance management
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace
- Provide coaching, performance management, and staff development
Community Relations & Advocacy
- Build partnerships with stakeholders, funders, and community groups
- Represent the organization in the community
- Advocate for children, youth, and families
Qualifications
- University degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit sector
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Strong leadership, financial, and communication skills
- Experience in fundraising and grant writing
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and nonprofit operations
