Director of Nursing Programs

Oulton College - Moncton, New Brunswick

Full-Time | Senior Academic Leadership Role

A rare opportunity to lead, shape, and grow nursing education in a highly hands-on, high-impact environment. Oulton College, a degree-granting institution with over 65 years of excellence on the East Coast of Canada, is seeking a strategic and engaged Director of Nursing to lead our Practical Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programs. This is a senior academic leadership role, comparable in scope to an Associate Dean in larger institutions, but within a more agile, collaborative, and hands-on environment where decisions move quickly, and impact is immediate. Reporting directly to the President and Vice President, Academic, the Director serves as the leader of nursing education at Oulton College, with accountability for program quality, faculty leadership, student outcomes, and external partnerships.

Why This Role is Different

At Oulton College, you won't be one layer among many. You will:

  • Lead a close-knit, high-performing team (Program Coordinators + ~15 faculty + clinical instructors)
  • Have direct access to executive leadership and influence key decisions
  • Operate in a nimble environment where innovation and action are encouraged
  • Play a central role in shaping programs that directly impact the healthcare workforce in New Brunswick

This is an ideal opportunity for a leader who wants both strategic influence and hands-on engagement in program success.

The Opportunity

The Director of Nursing provides academic, operational, and strategic leadership across both programs, ensuring they are student-centred, high-quality, and aligned with regulatory and workforce expectations. This role balances big-picture leadership with hands-on execution by supporting faculty, advancing initiatives, and driving measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and execute the vision and direction for nursing programs
  • Drive the long-term sustainability and growth of programs
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear actions and measurable outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, differentiation, and improvement
  • Oversee curriculum, program delivery, and continuous quality improvement
  • Lead accreditation and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring programs consistently meet or exceed professional standards
  • Integrate emerging trends, technologies, and evidence-based practices into programs
  • Lead and support Program Coordinators and faculty teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence
  • Support faculty recruitment, development, and performance management
  • Set clear expectations and accountability for a student-first approach
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with regulators, healthcare partners, and industry stakeholders to ensure program relevance and success
  • Drive student retention, progression, and readiness for licensure and practice through early identification and proactive support of at-risk students.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Nursing (preferred) or Master's degree in Nursing with significant leadership experience
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in nursing education, healthcare, or a related field
  • Eligible for RN licensure in New Brunswick
  • Strong knowledge of accreditation, regulatory standards, and program quality
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complexity, and drive results
  • Experience in post-secondary education is strongly preferred

Why Oulton College

  • Student-first culture: Every decision is grounded in student success. This is a place where every learner matters, and outcomes are a shared responsibility.
  • Real-world impact: Strong partnerships with employers and healthcare organizations ensure programs are relevant and graduates are workforce-ready.
  • Agile leadership environment: Work in a collaborative, nimble setting where ideas move quickly, and your leadership has immediate, visible impact.
  • Meaningful scope: Lead and shape both Practical Nursing and BScN programs within a growing and evolving portfolio.
  • Be part of something different: Experience the influence and visibility of a senior leadership role without the layers and constraints of a large university.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Paid vacation
  • Professional development funding support
  • Employer-matched retirement savings plan (RRSP/pension)
  • Free 24/7 Employee Assistance Program that offers counselling and medical support
  • Live and work in a thriving Atlantic Canadian community, with easy access to the coast, perfect for ocean lovers.
  • Quality of life with shorter commutes and strong community connections.
  • Relocation support if needed.

Apply

If you're ready to take on a visible, influential leadership role where you can directly shape the future of nursing education, we encourage you to apply. Oulton College values diverse experiences and perspectives. If you meet most of the qualifications and believe you would be a strong fit, we welcome your application.
