Camp Counsellor - Skilled Futures: Summer Camp

Skills Canada - Nova Scotia (SCNS) is a not-for-profit organization that inspires young people to explore skilled trades and technologies through hands-on learning and competition. We're a passionate and supportive team dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for youth across the province. This summer, we're partnering with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and NSCC to host Skilled Trades Camps across the province, and we're looking for Camp Counsellors to help make it an incredible experience. These week-long camps give Nova Scotian youth the opportunity to try skilled trades and technologies through fun, hands-on activities. This role is perfect for someone who wants to build leadership skills, work directly with youth, and be part of something exciting.
What You'll Do
Program Coordination & Delivery
- Help plan and prepare for 5, week-long summer camps hosted at NSCC campuses across Nova Scotia
- Lead fun, engaging activities and help campers feel welcome and involved
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed
- Support the Camp Coordinator and Senior Camp Counsellor with daily logistics
- Ensure programs are delivered safely and smoothly
Administration
- Help manage sign in/sign out process and track camper attendance throughout the day
- Handle general admin tasks and event support including set up and tear down
Who We're Looking For
You'll be a great fit if you have:
- Experience working with youth (camp, coaching, tutoring, leadership programs, etc.)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfort leading groups and facilitating activities
- Leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Initiative, independence, and a positive attitude
- Experience with program coordination (an asset, not required)
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed, from setup to cleanup
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 is an asset
Successful candidates must complete a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check.
Work Environment

- Travel within Nova Scotia is required (Travel, meals and lodging are all covered)
- Some evenings and weekends may be needed
