Job Description: Working assigned shifts, you will be responsible for completing investigations and incident reports. You will be expected to perform constant patrols and interact with tenants and members of the public to provide direction and promote good customer service while providing a security presence. Respond to all emergencies and take the lead role in all incidents involving violent individuals. You will be required to conduct arrests, enforce mall rules, and remove undesirables from the property.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible and proactive security presence throughout the shopping centre, including interior, exterior, parking facilities, and perimeter areas.
  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to deter theft, vandalism, and other criminal activity.
  • Monitor CCTV systems and security alarms; identify, investigate, and respond to suspicious activities.
  • Enforce property rules, regulations, and the Trespass to Property Act in a professional and consistent manner.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies including medical incidents (First Aid/CPR/AED), fire alarms, disturbances, and evacuation situations.
  • De-escalate conflicts and manage disruptive behaviour using tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
  • Assist tenants with security-related concerns including theft reports, safe walks, and incident follow-up.
  • Coordinate with emergency services (Police, Fire, EMS) and provide site access, direction, and support as required.
  • Complete detailed incident, occurrence, and daily activity reports using the standard reporting system.
  • Perform fire and life safety inspections, hazard identification, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Provide crowd control and line management during peak shopping periods, promotional events, and holiday seasons.
  • Support loss prevention initiatives and assist with investigations involving theft, fraud, or property damage.
  • Maintain professionalism and deliver strong customer service while interacting with patrons, tenants, and contractors.
  • Assist management with operational tasks, special assignments, and coverage requirements as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of mall security or related experience.
  • Valid G Class driver's license with clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to obtain a valid vulnerable sector check and criminal background check.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English.
  • Professional, detail-oriented, and capable of sound decision-making under pressure.
  • Physically able to stand, walk, and patrol (8–12 hour shifts) in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable working in a busy, high-traffic retail environment.
