The Role

The Director of Transportation Sales & Marketing will focus on our market position, identify and qualify net-new opportunities, lead pricing activities, and mature existing account relationships. Reporting to the Vice President - Transportation Operations, they will foster strong customer relationships with new and existing customers and contribute towards the sales growth.

To be effective in this role you will:

  • Collaborate with customers to determine service requirements and deliver transportation solutions to suit their needs.
  • Build relationships with new and existing customers to ensure brand and project success.
  • Build a strong relationship with Operations Teams to understand the needs of the business and the capabilities of the operations to support new customer requirements and lanes.
  • Create an exceptional customer experience by liaising between operations and customer service teams to provide customized transportation solutions.
  • Provide regular updates, respond to account inquiries, and address any customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular customer meetings.
  • Leverage business relationships to generate new ideas and business opportunities.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure all bids and RFPs are submitted on time and are of consistent quality.
  • Lead all pricing activities ensuring quotes are responsive to market dynamics and reflect financial targets set in budgeting process
  • Contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the business development team.
  • Develop and execute project plans to meet customer goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and manage project performance.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent degree or experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in fast moving consumer products logistics/distribution, ideally with significant time spent in fresh/frozen food transportation/logistics.
  • Experience in commercial excellence/dynamic pricing considered an asset.
  • Ability to strive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including meeting facilitation.
  • Exceptional written and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Travel required throughout Canada and United States
