Site Description:

Elgin Water Supply is a critical municipal water treatment and distribution facility serving the surrounding community. The site includes controlled-access operational areas, essential infrastructure, and administrative spaces that support the continuous delivery of safe drinking water. Due to the nature of its operations, the facility requires strict access management, adherence to safety protocols, and a secure environment to ensure uninterrupted service and regulatory compliance.

Position: Security Guard

Site: Elgin Water Supply

Status: Temporary Part Time

Hours: Friday to Sunday (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM), Mondays (on statutory holidays only: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

Pay Rate: $23.19/hour

Posting Date: April 16th, 2026

Internal Closing Date: April 23rd, 2026

External Closing Date: May 15th, 2026

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a visible presence in and around the designated beach area to deter unauthorized access and activities.
  • Enforce all applicable TPA (Trespass to Property Act) regulations by preventing unauthorized individuals from accessing restricted beach areas or engaging in prohibited activities such as fishing.
  • Approach members of the public in a professional and respectful manner to advise them of site restrictions and request compliance with posted rules.
  • Conduct regular foot patrols of the beach perimeter and surrounding areas to monitor activity, identify potential risks, and ensure compliance with site policies.
  • De-escalate conflicts or non-compliant behavior calmly and effectively while maintaining personal safety and public professionalism.
  • Contact emergency services (police, fire, paramedics) when required and assist during incidents in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond promptly to any safety concerns, incidents, or suspicious activities within the beach area and surrounding property.
  • Provide basic first aid and medical assistance if required until emergency services arrive.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, interactions, and enforcement actions in Daily Activity Reports (DAR).
  • Ensure all security equipment and communication tools are functioning properly during the shift.
  • Support general site operations as required and follow direction from the Security Leadership team and client representatives

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Must wear 6-inch all-leather safety boots with ankle coverage
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the certifications with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
