The Local Government Division is the primary point of contact between GNB and local communities. With a vision of fostering vibrant and sustainable communities, the division provides support and advisory services to local governments and regional service commissions and is responsible for the administration of Rural Districts (RDs). The division consists of two branches: Regional Collaboration and Planning, which includes the Regional Collaboration and Provincial and Community Planning Units; and Community Finance, Local and Rural Governance which includes the Rural Districts, Local Governance, Community Finance, and Strategic Initiatives Units.

What you will do?
As a member of the Rural District team, you will be responsible for providing a variety of administrative functions in support of the Rural District unit. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • inputting and processing payments
  • formatting correspondence
  • providing logistical and administrative support for meetings and events
  • preparing and distributing financial expenditure reports, and
  • providing details of expenditures to advisory committee members, fire chiefs, the Rural District Manager and head office staff.

Essential qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by a minimum of a one (1) year post-secondary program in Office Administration, or in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Previous experience with application processing and claims processing;
  • Extensive experience using MS Excel and Word;
  • Experience working with information under strict deadlines.

Wage
Salary Scale 3 $1,625.00 to $1,971.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week

Work environment

  • Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
