ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Cancer Care Program of NL Health Services ? Eastern Zone invites expressions of interest for a full-time Medical Oncologist at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre (DHBMCC) in St. John's, NL.

The Cancer Care Program has a provincial mandate to deliver cancer care to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. It operates at DHBMCC in St. John's, with regional cancer centers providing systemic therapy in Corner Brook, Gander, and Grand Falls. The Centre has active multidisciplinary tumour boards for all major disease sites and is co-located with expert surgical and medical consulting services within Eastern Zone.

The successful candidate will join 13 other Medical Oncologists (9.34 clinical FTE) as a full-time clinical equivalent, responsible for treating two main disease sites with provision of care for at least a third minor site. Our oncologists participate actively in multidisciplinary rounds and work closely with colleagues within the provincial cancer care program. The Cancer Care Program medical staff is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. This position offers opportunities for teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical trials participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Medical Oncology (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive medical oncology care across two primary disease sites and at least one minor disease site
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards and rounds
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the provincial cancer care program
  • Support clinical trials participation
  • Contribute to teaching and scholarly activities through the Memorial University Faculty of Medicine affiliation
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety

REMUNERATION

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, commensurate with level of training and experience.
