About the Role
The Pumphouse Brewery is looking for a Quality Control & Assurance Specialist to support all aspects of product quality from brewhouse to packaging. This role ensures our beer meets the highest standards for safety, consistency, and regulatory compliance while supporting innovation and continuous improvement across the brewery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform analytical, microbiological, and sensory testing throughout production.
- Monitor packaging quality (filler/seamer performance, CO?, DO, ABV, weights, seams, date codes).
- Lead sensory panels and support new product development.
- Maintain lab equipment, sample library, and quality documentation.
- Update SOPs, SDS lists, and ensure label compliance for all markets.
- Track GNS usage, keg movements, product returns, and quality?related reporting.
- Coordinate third?party lab testing and support internal/external audits.
- Collaborate with Brewing, Packaging, and Innovation teams on process improvements.
- Assist with new product launches, non?alcoholic lines, and co?packing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Post Secondary Education in microbiology or chemistry (preferred)
- Experience in brewing, food science, fermentation, or QA/QC environment.
- Strong analytical, microbiology, and sensory evaluation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and communication.
- Ability to work cross?functionally in a fast?paced production environment.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING:
- Handling chemicals and microbiological substances safely
- Intermediate level skills in MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge of heat processing principles (pasteurization and sterilization) (an asset)
CERTIFICATES and LICENSES:
- WHMIS
- Forklift (an asset)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
