Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Leads a team in meeting firm operational targets while providing support for USD settlements initiating from Fixed Income, Equity and Central Funding business lines. Work efforts are focused against overall effectiveness of the team i.e.: Talent management, client service levels, process fulfillment, and unit operations. Responsible to lead and develop staff product knowledge against the functions of the department, while ensuring adherence to operational risk issues.
What will you do?
• Responsible for overall team results as measured through established service partner agreements, employee opinion surveys, and various other formal and informal conduits.
• Develops and monitors service quality, dealing with service partner/client service issues in a professional manner
• Uses effective communication skills to ensure employees are well informed relative to goals, objectives and achievements
• Acts as an advisor to the department/function and fills in coverage caps when required
• Builds and leverages relationships with business partners/service providers
• Proactively assess obstacles and identifies opportunities to improve overall team performance
• Actively engages in testing and verification of routine system upgrades, BCP processes, and regulatory initiatives
• Ensures adherence of operations risk policies as outlined in policies, procedures, standards and guidelines instructions and ensures processes and controls are in place to
minimize operations risk
Authorities, Impact, Risk:
•People, and process decisions are made within framework of COO Group Management delegations
•Input, suggestions, and recommendations on an array of topics are made to senior levels within COO Group and Capital Markets including, but not limited to, people, process, and technology considerations
Key Relationships:
•Securities settlements leadership team
•Downline management team
•Business and functional partners
•Depository and clearing house relationship management as well as 3rd party vendors
•Clients, counterparts, and regulators
What you need to succeed?
Must have:
•Post-secondary education or equivalent
•FINRA Series 99
•RBC Learning mandated courses
•Ability to manage people and processes
•Strong communication skills
•Ability to follow appropriate escalation channels when necessary
•Ability to work independently and to solve problems using knowledge and experience
•Understanding of the various functions within the department, the procedures and processes, and the risks that need to be monitored
•Strong computer skills
•Strong knowledge of USD securities settlements and clearing depositories
•Strong knowledge of internal trading, operations, and accounting systems
Nice to have:
•Securities settlement and clearance experience
•Operational risk awareness
