About The Role
Reporting to the Director of Recreation, Parks & Tourism, the Trails, Parks and Open Space Coordinator works closely with community trail and park associations to provide support and assist them with trail and park development. This includes providing support to the associations and initiatives that reflect community economic development, recreation and tourism opportunities. This position is also responsible for the management of municipal parks and trails, implementing the park maintenance program and supervising the park staff. This role also works to achieve the interests of Council in the Open Space Strategic Plan, and the Parks Standards document, assisting in the evaluation of existing Municipal parks and properties and developing strategies to implement changes and improvements.

As the ideal candidate you possess the following:
Minimum qualifications include:
- A bachelor's degree in Recreation or Community Development; and
- 3 years experience in recreation; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in planning and managing recreation facilities, particularly parks and trails.
- Experience in developing trusting and collaborative partnerships.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience with supervising others.

Conditions of Employment
- Term, full-time ending March 31, 2027
- Based on 35-hour work week
- Salary: $65,218 to $81,523 (Band 60-Specialist) commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Travel in Lunenburg and Queens Counties is required and will be compensated in accordance with MODL's Travel policy.
- Must have reliable access to a personal vehicle for travel, valid driver's license and insurance.
- Emergency First Aid, CPR and WHMIS certification (or willing to obtain).
- Satisfactory RCMP Screening and Child Abuse Registry forms.
