Inclusion Canada Newfoundland and Labrador (ICNL) is a provincial advocacy organization working alongside individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families to advance inclusion, equality, and independence.
We are entering a new phase focused on sustainability, growth, and deepening impact across the province. We are looking for a values-driven leader who can build on our strong foundation and help guide the organization into its next chapter.
The Opportunity
The Executive Director is the organization's senior leader, working in close partnership with the Board of Directors to drive strategy, strengthen operations, and expand impact.
This role is ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands-on. Someone who thinks big while also building the structures, relationships, and internal processes needed to move the work forward.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Strategic Leadership & Direction
- Lead implementation of ICNL's strategic priorities
- Identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and long-term sustainability
- Support the Board with clear, thoughtful analysis and planning
- Revenue Development & Sustainability
- Lead fundraising, grant development, and partnership-building
- Strengthen relationships with government, funders, families of and persons with intellectual disabilities and other community partners
- Governance & Board Relations
- Build strong, transparent working relationships with the Board
- Support governance best practices and policy development
- Provide clear, consistent reporting on progress and performance
- Operations & Financial Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day operations, staff support, and organizational systems
- Lead budgeting, financial management, and accountability processes
- Ensure compliance with policies, board by-laws and reporting frameworks
- People Leadership, Staff Support & Project Oversight
- Provide day to day leadership, guidance, and support to staff
- Monitor staff performance, workload, and professional development needs
- Monitor project plans, timelines, deliverables, and overall progress
- Identify risks, barriers, or delays and work with staff and partners to address them
- Advocacy & External Relations
- Represent ICNL provincially and nationally
- Strengthen the organization's voice, credibility, and visibility
Who You Are: You are a thoughtful and collaborative leader who is motivated by impact. You bring a balance of strategy, relationship-building, and accountability.
You will bring:
- Post-secondary degree/ diploma in social science, business or related.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience (Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and lived expertise are valued.)
- Leadership experience in the nonprofit, public, or advocacy sector
- Experience working with / reporting to a Board of Directors
- Strength in fundraising, partnerships, and government relations
- Financial and operational management experience
- A deep commitment to inclusion, disability rights, and social justice
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and relational)
- Sound judgment, ethical leadership and accountability
- Licence and access to a car with a willingness and ability for occasional travel both provincially and nationally
- RNC Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
Compensation & Flexibility
We are committed to finding the right fit. This role offers flexibility in structure and compensation based on experience, availability, and scope. We are open to full-time or reduced schedules and will work with the successful candidate to align expectations in a way that supports both the individual and the organization's needs. While the role is envisioned as majority in office, the option for hybrid is open for discussion. Compensation starts at $68,000-72,000 annually (full time equivalent), depending on hours and final structure. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
