We are looking for a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis you will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial models for forecasting and budgeting. You will provide financial and business services support to key business units within the operations group.
Key elements of this role include:
- Develop and prepare the annual budget, quarterly forecast and long-term forecasting processes.
- Develop an understanding of critical business performance drivers and risk factors and provided financial analysis and reporting to effectively monitor performance and risks.
- Monitoring and reporting on business performance against budget/forecast.
- Identify trends, analyze causes of variances, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams across the organization.
- Development and review of actual financial results against the annual plan and assisting providing updated financial forecasts.
- Assists / leads the development of information required to support regulatory requests, and information required by Stakeholders of Business Units.
- Supports the General Rate Application and hearing process, including preparation of the filing, and responding to stakeholder requests.
- Supports the business in the adherence to Accounting Policy and associated internal control frameworks.
- Provides ongoing strategic business and financial support to the operational managers of business units.
- Supports the on-going development of an inclusive culture within Finance and across NS Power.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- Have a bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, finance, or related field.
- Have a professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in financial planning and analysis of at least 3 years focused experience on public company disclosure and planning requirements.
- Experience in a regulated utility will be considered an asset.
- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- In depth knowledge of accounting practices and principles and effective internal control concepts and their application.
- Excellent financial leadership, relationship management, team building, conflict management, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze investment opportunities, assess business and operational implications, and develop strategic business options to maximize results and accomplish business objectives.
