Independent Contractor - Youth & Adult Support Worker (TEA/TSA)

Location: Cape Breton, NS, Pictou County/New Glasgow, NS.

Pay: $20.50/hour (Independent Contractor - T4A)

Shifts: 12-hour shifts (days, nights)

About the Role

• Provide Temporary Emergency Arrangements (TEA) for youth and Temporary Service Arrangements (TSA) for adults.
• Work with clients with complex needs and challenging behaviours in community settings.
• Play a direct role in safety, stability, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision in various staffing ratios (2:1, 2:2, 3:2).
• Support routines, life skills, and daily structure.
• Transport clients to appointments and outings.
• Maintain a safe and structured environment.
• Act as a strong role model.
• Manage and de-escalate behaviours.
• Complete logs and reports.
• Follow policies and care plans.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience with youth/adults or complex behaviours.
• Background in human services, social work, psychology, or similar.
• Ability to manage crisis situations.
• Strong professionalism and communication.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Minimum $2M auto insurance.
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
• Child Abuse Registry Check.
• Driver's Abstract.
• Valid SIN or Work Permit.
• Ability to complete required training.
