Security Guards at this site play a key role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and calm environment for staff and visitors. The position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a customer-service approach to security.

Position: Afternoon Team Lead

Status: Temporary Full Time

Site: Central Public Library

Hours: Monday-Thursday (13:30 - 21:30 hours), Friday (11:00 - 1830 hours)

Payrate: $19.05/hour

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA)

Position Overview / Duties

• Control, oversee and direct the activities of Site Guards during the afternoon shift
• Motivate and manage the performance of security staff to ensure that the performance of all Guards is of the highest quality and complies with requirements
• Liaise with the London Public Library management and Community Agencies with regard to any security issues and implement instructions and temporary post orders as necessary
• Assist in developing policies for continuous improvement to services to enhance services
• Orientate and Train: Provide appropriate orientation and training
• Assign Work: Assign special assignment duties to guards ensuring they are qualified and trained for the task
• Scheduling: Create and manage the work schedule for the department
• Corrective Actions: Address performance problems through the Paladin performance management procedures
• Incident Reports: Review and sign-off on all incident reports created each shift by Security
• Emergency Response: Emergency Team Representative to actively monitor site conditions and assist with plant evacuation process.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• 3 Years of experience in security is required
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
