The opportunity:

We're looking for a collaborative and forward?thinking professional to lead the UX research function within our User Experience team for a 12?month term.

Reporting to the Director, User Experience, this role leads a small team of UX strategists within a research?led practice that also encompasses related digital experience strategy and insight activities. The Team Leader supports the team in delivering high?quality user research, testing, analysis, and insights that inform digital product and design decisions.

This role also plays a key part in helping our well?established User Experience team continue to grow and mature: advancing UX research operations, driving meaningful adoption of research findings, fostering effective cross?functional collaboration, and advocating for the value of UX research with stakeholders.

Given the term nature of this role, we're looking for someone who can step into an existing practice, quickly understand team dynamics and priorities, and begin leading work already underway.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day?to?day guidance on research methods, planning, and execution; support research quality and consistency; and ensure work meets professional and ethical standards.
  • Manage team member performance and growth through objective setting, coaching, providing feedback, and supporting learning and development.
  • Foster a strong and inclusive employee experience to encourage team engagement and support the wellbeing and effectiveness of a fully remote team.
  • Plan and manage research efforts in support of business goals; prioritize and assign work; monitor progress; and evaluate outcomes.
  • Establish and evolve research standards, workflows, tools, and resources, and shape how UX research is integrated into the product development process.
  • Help stakeholders understand the role and value of UX research through cross?functional advocacy and evidence?based storytelling.
  • As capacity and priorities allow, contribute directly to research activities to support the team and critical initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years work experience in UX research, UX strategy, or a closely related UX role.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and research ethics.
  • Ability to translate research findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams is an asset.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others.

Soft skills

  • Stakeholder communication, storytelling, and influence.
  • Organization, planning, and ability to drive outcomes.
  • Analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to guide team effectively through change.
  • Ability to provide feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help others excel in their role.

Position requirements:

  • While this is primarily a remote position, as a member of the UX leadership team, you may occasionally be required to attend in?person meetings or employee events at one of our four main locations.
  • We offer flexible working arrangements, with the expectation that the team leader is available during core business hours to support their team.

Security Clearance: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status

We encourage candidates to include a cover letter outlining why you're a good fit for this position.

What we offer:

  • Full-time, 12 month term position in a well-established organization
  • Flexible work arrangements and emphasis on work-life balance
  • Remote and hybrid work options
  • Comprehensive health, vision and dental plan that is 100% employer paid effective on your first day
  • In addition to paid vacation, we offer a gifted week of vacation in your first year and an optional Vacation Purchase Program.
  • An organization where we encourage personal learning and growth with opportunities for career development and advancement
  • Emphasis on work life balance, providing wellness benefits, health resources and fitness center discounts
