About the Role
As the Privacy and Information Access Coordinator, you will report to the Privacy and Information Access Officer, and support privacy, confidentiality, and information access functions across Medavie Health Services New Brunswick (MHSNB), including Ambulance New Brunswick (ANB), the Extra-Mural Program (EMP), and NB Health Link (NBHL).
You will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy and information access practices that comply with applicable legislation, organizational policies, and industry best practices. You will serve as a primary resource for staff inquiries, support privacy incident management, coordinate requests under the Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act ( PHIPAA), the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act ( RTIPPA) and related legislation, and help advance a strong privacy culture across all programs.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Privacy & Access Coordination
- Respond to requests for personal information, personal health information, corrections, and Right to Information requests.
- Administer processes related to privacy complaints, access requests, documentation, tracking, investigation, and follow-up.
- Support the investigation and management of privacy incidents and breaches.
- Assist with privacy impact assessments and the development of privacy guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Training, Education & Awareness
- Develop and maintain annual corporate privacy training materials and department-specific content.
- Monitor employee compliance with required privacy training.
- Support a culture of continuous privacy awareness across the organization.
Records & Information Management
- Support the organization's information and records management processes.
- Ensure records are organized, stored, retained, and disposed of according to approved retention schedules, legal standards, and internal policies.
Collaboration & Advisory Support
- Respond to staff inquiries related to privacy and information access, collaborating with leaders to mitigate risks.
- Work closely with internal partners, senior leadership, external stakeholders, and committees.
- Support accreditation processes and other organizational initiatives.
Other Responsibilities
- Prepare clear and concise reports, letters, and documentation as required.
- Participate in relevant committees and working groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a related field such as health, social sciences, business or public administration. Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Successful completion of a College Certificate / Diploma in Records Management, Information Management or Business Administration (asset).
- Experience or knowledge in privacy, compliance, or related fields (asset).
- Experience handling confidential, private, and/or patient information.
- Experience with records and information management (asset).
- Understanding of investigative processes.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, reports, and briefings (asset).
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of legislation such as PHIPAA, RTIPPA, and other applicable privacy and information access laws (asset).
- Understanding of patient safety and risk management processes.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to foresee potential issues and opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to write clear, succinct reports and correspondence.
- Ability to gather facts, clarify requests, and collaborate with diverse individuals.
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
Additional Assets
- Understanding of ambulance operations, Extra-Mural Program operations, NB Health Link, or broader health system environments.
- Experience supporting privacy or risk management functions in a healthcare setting.

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
