Independent Contractor – Youth & Adult Support Worker

Location: HRM & Surrounding Areas, Nova Scotia
Pay: $20.50/hour (Independent Contractor - T4A)
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (days, nights)

About the Role

• Provide Temporary Emergency Arrangements (TEA) for youth and Temporary Service Arrangements (TSA) for adults.
• Work with clients with complex needs and challenging behaviours in community settings.
• Play a direct role in safety, stability, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision in various staffing ratios (2:1, 2:2, 3:2)
• Support routines, life skills, and daily structure
• Transport clients to appointments and outings
• Maintain a safe and structured environment
• Act as a strong role model
• Manage and de-escalate behaviours
• Complete logs and reports
• Follow policies and care plans
• Maintain strict confidentiality

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience with youth/adults or complex behaviours
• Background in human services, social work, psychology, or similar
• Ability to manage crisis situations
• Strong professionalism and communication

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
• Minimum $2M 3rd party liability auto insurance
• Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
• Child Abuse Registry Check
• Driver's Abstract
• Valid SIN or Work Permit
• Ability to complete required training
