The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join its senior management team as the Director of Strategic Mineral Investments, in Fredericton. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Lands and Mines Division, you will play a pivotal role in advancing New Brunswick as a leading jurisdiction for sustainable and responsible mineral development. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction for New Brunswick's mineral sector and drive economic growth in this vital industry.
As Director of Strategic Mineral Investments, you will:
- Develop and promote strategic policies that enhance New Brunswick's competitiveness in global mineral exploration, development, and investment.
- Lead initiatives to streamline regulatory processes, ensure clarity, and remove barriers to investment for mining and exploration projects.
- Design and implement a sector-specific concierge service to enhance support for mining sector stakeholders and investors.
- Leverage expertise in mineral development and capital investment markets to support business and financial transactions in the mining sector.
- Provide critical geological and financial analyses and communicate findings to investors and other stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with investors, resource funds, federal programs, and international partners to expand New Brunswick's global network.
- Support efforts to attract investment, strengthen supply chains, and advance critical and strategic mineral development opportunities.
- Integrate mineral development projects into New Brunswick's broader infrastructure and economic strategies, promoting cost-effective implementation and accessibility.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for value-added processing and sustainable economic development aligned with evolving industry trends and global demands.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following:
- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Geology, or a related field, along with at least six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience in metals and mining investment and mine development, including three (3) years in financial management.
- A University degree in Business Administration, Geology, or a related field, with at least eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in metals and mining investment and mine development, including three (3) years in financial management.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the mining sector.
- Extensive experience in mineral exploration and mining sector, with a particular focus on its business, economic, and financial aspects.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel within and outside of the province, including international travel, as required, including overnight stays; working outside of the regular business hours on occasion.
SALARY: $112,398 to $126,594 per annum
