Manager of Health & Safety

Reporting to the Health & Safety Director, the Manager of Health & Safety serving the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS) is responsible for leading and governing conventional health and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment. The role oversees hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of effective controls; provides visible safety leadership through strong communication and workforce engagement; and leads incident investigations, performance tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and outcomes.
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project (MLAP), the Manager of Health & Safety for the MLAP will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, security, and emergency response related to the MLAP. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & Safety standards and regulations, as well as fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within the project team. A key component of this role will be liaising with contractors, operations and other internal and external stakeholders throughout construction to ensure Health & Safety standards are upheld and the construction, operations interface is managed in accordance with NB Power and MLAP objectives.
Key functions include:
- Act as a liaison between Corporate, Senior Station management, and employees to communicate safety goals and initiatives.
- Oversee the Health & Safety program implementation.
- Mentor and coach team members to help drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- Safety Certificate from an accredited organization or be willing to obtain the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) accreditation within two years from the date of hire
- Ten years of experience in the Health & Safety Industry
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
