We are accepting applications for Recreation Program Leaders for our 2026 Summer Programming.


Recreation Program Leaders work in collaboration with the Summer Daycamp Supervisor to lead fun, inclusive and active programming for youth.

Responsibilities include supervision of all activities, ensuring effective communication with caregivers and participants, daily opening and closing of facilities, managing administrative tasks such as safety checks and daily reports and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

We are planning daycamps in several locations throughout the community:

East Hants Sportsplex: Comfort and ability to skate required.

East Hants Aquatic Centre: Must be comfortable swimming and working in a busy pool environment.

Rural Locations: Camps will rotate throughout the communities of Mount Uniacke, Kennetcook and Rawdon. Must have own transportation to camp location.

Inclusion Support: Dedicated additional camp inclusion support. Must have interest and experience providing inclusion support and must be able to travel to various camp locations throughout the Municipality, as needed.

Start Date: July 6, 2026 (training days scheduled beginning June 29)
End Date: August 28, 2026 (end dates may vary depending on location)

Hours: Sportsplex camp: 7:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday; All other camps: 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday

Hourly rate: $17.25 p/hr

Qualifications for all positions:
• Interest and experience working with children and youth in a recreation setting.
• Experience and/or training working with individuals requiring inclusion support, an asset.
• Ability to work in an autonomous, collaborative team environment with minimal direct supervision. Must have sound judgement skills and be capable of working independently.
• Ability to champion an environment of inclusion and belonging.
• Basic Workplace First Aid with CPR C/AED certification an asset, willingness to obtain required
• Ability and willingness to travel to camp locations as assigned within East Hants.
• Clear vulnerable sector and child abuse registry checks required prior to date of hire
• Preference will be given to candidates interested in or pursuing studies in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Child and Youth Studies, Psychology, Education, Social Work and/or training in a related field
